Do you ever get sick and tired of Anxiety? You aren't alone! In my open letter to Anxiety, I will share my raw and honest feelings about Anxiety!
If you ever feel alone and frustrated with the everyday battles brought on by Anxiety, this open letter is for you!
An open letter to Anxiety
(or its other aliases: anxiousness, fear, or panic)
Dear Anxiety,
I don’t have much of a greeting for you because this letter is confrontational, so prepare yourself. It’s time for you to get into the hot seat while I accuse you, instead of it being the other way around.
You’re a liar.
And a thief.
And a manipulator.
You cause division.
And isolation.
The most awful thing you do is shove amazing people into a deep, dark pit and convince them they’re the ones who jumped down there.
I’ve decided you aren’t my friend, and you aren’t my problem.
In fact, you aren’t attached to me in any way.
You are a feeling or an imbalance and sometimes even a demon, but not MY feeling or MY demon!

Nope, you’re a stand-alone leech who attaches yourself to anyone who could possibly live the best life without you, and you attempt to suck it right out of them. You are the worst kind of awful, and I want nothing, absolutely nothing to do with you.
Actually, no one does. I hate to tell you this, but no one likes you anyway.
Not that you ever cared. You want to convince your victims that you are permanently attached to them and that they have no choice. You suck every bit of their identity out of them and replace it with the hollow shell of a person called by your name.
But, guess what, Anxiety? This open letter is from all of us, not just me. None of us want you here. So, we’ve decided, because we are more powerful than the lies you tell us, we will say NO.
No! You will not steal our identity. We are made in the image of God, created in His likeness. We will settle for nothing less than the abundant life Jesus came to give us. Whole. Forgiven. Free.
We REFUSE to believe your lies any longer. We aren’t horrible people; we just had a bad day or made a few mistakes.
Here are some other lies we won’t agree with anymore:
- “You are never going to change.” Nope, I can change, maybe one small step at a time, but I can and will change! Plus, that’s none of your business.
- “You are never going to be happy.” Lie! I’ve survived all my bad days, and it can only get better from here! Also, you know nothing.
- “You aren’t worthy of love.” Oh, yes, I am. Check out John 3:16 if you care to know the truth. I’m sure you don’t, though.
Other articles on Goodbye Anxious that help with anxiety!
- “You aren’t enough (smart enough, good enough, rich enough, popular enough, etc.).” That’s only your opinion, and I’ve devalued your opinion in my life. I am enough because God says I am, and I believe in myself. What you tell me is just a feeling, and feelings aren’t rulers; they’re opinions.
- “That mistake was too far; you ruined your life.” If I am still breathing, then I have an opportunity to make my life better. You have absolutely no say in that.
- “Everyone hates you, and they wouldn’t care if you die.” I’m thinking of every single person I’ve ever known who believed that and let you take them out. Not a single one of them died without someone caring!
The longer I resist you, the more your lies will be exposed. Don’t look for any more letters from me, though. You aren’t worth my time.
Instead, when you come knocking, I will slam the door shut right in your face. I’ll probably not even answer the door if I know it’s you.
We are done.
Totally and completely done.
Like, lose my number, done.
Like, forget I existed and ever came into agreement with you, done.
Not only are we done, but I plan to help other women say goodbye to you, too. They deserve the best life. They deserve to be free. If it’s your lies that are holding them back, I will expose them.
