When we compare ourselves to others, we never seem to measure up! Honestly, for years I’m pretty sure I held the world record for comparing myself to every single woman I met.

The truth is, comparing yourself to others is extremely damaging to who you are, who you were created to be, and the beautiful life you are supposed to be living!

In this article, you are going to learn how to stop comparing yourself to others. As you apply these tips to your life, you will see a drastic difference in your joy, peace, and fulfillment!

Top Tips to Stop Comparing

1. Be aware of your insecurities

Firstly, it's important to be aware of your insecurities. The first step to stopping comparison is to acknowledge your insecurities. Most of us have something that makes us feel less than others. Comparison has a way of making us feel isolated and alone. However, the truth is that the people we compare ourselves to often share the same struggles as us. Being aware of our insecurities is vital to stop comparing ourselves to others.

  • 2. Acknowledge your strengths

  • Secondly, acknowledging your strengths can be difficult. We often associate praising ourselves with pride, but denying ourselves the ability to recognize our strengths leads to undervaluing ourselves. Lack of confidence often speaks volumes to others, making it difficult for them to see our strengths. Identifying your strengths is key to learning how to stop comparing yourself to others. List things you are good at, things people depend on you for, what you receive compliments on, and areas where people ask for your advice. Reflect on these qualities often.

    3. Celebrate your wins

Thirdly, celebrating your wins is one of the most helpful ways to silence your inner critic, which tells you to compare yourself to others. Giving yourself permission to say “good job,” or “I did it,” is essential to stop comparing yourself to others. Celebrate every little win, no matter how small it may seem. As you begin to celebrate your wins, you’ll be more pleased with yourself. Once you do that, you have successfully started to learn how to stop comparing yourself to others!

    4. Be Inspired, Not Impaired

Comparing ourselves to others can cause us to become impaired. It can damage the view we have of ourselves. Instead, take what makes you feel inadequate and use it to encourage the change you need in your life. Look for the good in yourself and others, and use it as inspiration to make positive changes in your life.

    5. Choose your circle wisely

Choosing your friends and family members is important. Being around ultra-critical people can make you ultra-critical of yourself. Surround yourself with people who celebrate and appreciate you. Positive affirmation is critical to learning how to stop comparing yourself to others. Treat others with kindness and appreciation, and they will give that back to you.

    6. Delete. Unfollow. Unsubscribe.

Lastly, it may seem harsh, but deleting, unfollowing or unsubscribing to people who make you feel inadequate is necessary. Protect your peace at all cost. You bring so much value to this world, and comparing yourself is robbing the world of the beautiful person you are.

Comparing yourself to others can be damaging and hinder your happiness. By being aware of your insecurities, acknowledging your strengths, celebrating your wins, being inspired, choosing your circle wisely, and deleting, unfollowing, or unsubscribing, you can overcome the habit of comparison. Apply these tips to your life, and you will see a drastic difference in your joy, peace, and fulfillment.
